Wyoming Indian High School Electric Feather Robotics First Tech Competition program began in 2018. Scott Krassin is the head coach of the program. Gary Duquette and the Jackson RoboBroncs started the WIHS program. Our program has grown from one team participating in competitions in 2018 to having as many as 6 teams at the state competition in Casper last year. Our teams have acquired a variety of awards over the past 4 years.
The Jackson Hole RoboBroncs FIRST Robotics program began in 2009. It consists of over 200 students participating in grades 3 through 12. We also have over 30 coaches and mentors in Teton County working with the students as well. The RoboBroncs travel all over the state of WY to compete, as well as to CA, TX, UT, and CO. The FIRST Robotics Challenge Team has earned a ticket to the FIRST Championships 5 years in a row!
WIHS Electric Feather and the Jackson Hole Robobots have joined forces to help start other programs throughout the state. This includes continual support throughout their program. WIHS Electric Feather received a grant from HDR Engineering. These grant funds were used to start robotics programs and provide materials to schools in Dubois, Wind River, Lander, Cheyenne and two schools in Montana. We are still supporting these programs and working on helping other schools to develop programs as well.
The JH RoboBroncs continue to support teams in Wyoming and Idaho in our partnership with Wyoming Indian High School. The RoboBroncs provide more than just monetary support. The JH RoboBronc students provide technical expertise to all levels of students from all teams, in person and remotely. We help identify areas of growth around the state, and working with Wyoming Indian, we try to create STEM opportunities for rural students in Wyoming.
